You know those situations where you get a look or an offer of help from someone and all you can think is, "I got it, I got it. Help? Puh-lease."
Yeah, that situation doesn't happen as a parent. At least not when it comes to your child. The only difference is, you still say, "I got it, I got it." But secretly you're thinking, "Here. Take this child. Do something. Give him a bottle. Give him a boob. You don't have a boob? Find one. This baby needs a boob and he lost his privilege of getting mine."
Parenting is a funny thing. I can vividly recall several moments while watching others parents or thinking of becoming one where I thought, "I will never do that. When I have kids, I'm going to..."
I would day dream about the wonderful life I would give my children. I thought up activities we would do, the snuggles we would share, and the lovely days we would spend together just me and the kidlets.
Then I had a child.
My kids are going to be bathed frequently and always wear cute, clean clothes.

I got it, I got it
Bath? I just gave him a bath two days ago. That spit-up spot on his outfit is small enough that it will dry rather soon... we aren't seeing anyone important later today, are we?
I will NOT be a facebook mom. Pictures of my child will stay on my own personal devices and be shown only to those whom I trust and care about.
"Diet? How will he know the goodness of bacon and cheese if he doesn't get it through my breast milk? Oh, and bring me Baby J. He needs to taste this (insert any/all unhealthy foods here)."
I refuse to put my children in any of those tacky outfits that have cheesy sayings.
What can I say? You win some, you lose some.
Happy Sunday!

If you can keep a real life human alive, I'd say that's a win.
ReplyDeleteTrue story! Someone actually saw my husband rocking the car seat with his foot to keep little J calm and they said, "well that is a lazy way to take care of your child!" Really, there is no lazy way to take care of a child.
