One of my absolutely favorite memories from the first few weeks after we brought Baby J home, was watching him do what Husband & I call "The Big Bum Stretch".
The Big Bum Stretch is something almost every baby does, and it is the most adorable thing ever. They raise their stubby little arms as high as they will go (which is usually barely to the top of their head), scrunch their legs, arch their back, and stick out their bum. Baby J would hold this position for a solid 15 seconds, at least.
J still does the bum stretch, but it doesn't last as long and has lost a bit of it's newborn characteristics.
The Big Bum Stretch happened most frequently after he ate. It was his way of telling me he was done. He would unlatch, raise his eyebrows, and pucker his lips. His face would get red, and his forehead would turn white (from the raised eyebrows). He then would wipe his nose on my shoulder, snuggle up and fall asleep.
There are days where I really, really miss that bum stretch. My baby is growing up too fast.
